Under the guise of “streamlining and saving taxpayer’s money” is hides the real truth.
The oldest dept in WI is the “WI Board of Commissioners of Public Lands.
This board consists of 3 members, the sec of state, sec of treasury and atty general.
Walker is trying to eliminate the Sec of State, Office of the State Treasurer (which agreed to step down prior to being elected) and the atty general will be reassigned OFF the board.
Thus, we have a Commission of Public lands with NO BOARD. This allows Walker to take it over.
This Board has 2 major missions. 1) Land trust, land records 2) and this most do not know, is to handle trust funds for all state schools and provide low interest loans to students.
The current balance in this school loan account is $3,184,400. That’s MILLIONS.
Virtually unknown to the public, it has operated over 150 years. NO governor ever touched it, until now.
Once the board is dissolved, i.e.; sec of state, Office of the State Treasurer gone and atty general reassigned, Walker walks right in to do as he pleases with this cash.
The OTHER thing Walker can do is, allow strip mining, tree harvesting and oil drilling, because well, there is no board only Walker to run it.
I have dozens of documents from my research; several press on this and have contacted the other branches of Gov. More to come.
